Best way to get to Batu Caves from Kuala Lumpur

  • Batu Caves is about 12 km north of Kuala Lumpur, it's a very popular natural attraction close to KL
  • Getting there is easy. The best way to get to Batu Caves from Kuala Lumpur is by train, with KTM Komuter
  • The train takes around 40 minutes to get there
  • From KL->Batu Caves, there are currently 22 daily trains between 6:56 in the morning and 22:46 at night. With a train every half hour or so
  • Fare is 2RM, or 50 cents USD, each way
  • Departure station is KL Sentral (the main train station of KL), and arrival station is Batu Caves Station. Batu Caves station is located right next to the entrance to the cave. Once you get off just walk east towards the cliffs and giant golden statue
  • You can buy tickets at KL Sentral station. Follow signs inside the station for "KTM Komuter" and you'll see the ticket booth immediate next to the entrance. Once you get your ticket, go to the platforms and find the platform with a red overhead "Batu Caves" sign
  • Returning trains from Batu Caves to KL runs between 5:15 and 22:30 everyday, with similar frequency as KL->Batu Caves trains
  • You can find the current train schedule here: https://www.ktmb.com.my/komuter-routes-map.html
