Best way to get to Bohol from Cebu

  • Bohol island is very close to Cebu, only 50km south of Cebu City across from a narrow channel
  • The best way to travel to Bohol from Cebu is by ferry. There are lots of ferries going back and forth between Cebu City and Tagbilaran City on Bohol everyday. Do not try to fly as there are no direct flights and the shortest flight is connecting which takes 5 hours, much longer than taking the ferry and more expensive
  • The ferry takes 2 hours to get to Bohol from Cebu
  • Fares range from $8 USD to $20 USD each way, depending on which class of tickets you buy and which ferry operator you choose from
  • There are at least two companies that operate ferries on this route:
  • SuperCat:
  • Owned by 2Go, which is the largest ferry company in Philippines
  • Has 3 ferries everyday, departing at 8:15am, 1:15pm, and 6pm. Travel time is 2 hours
  • Cheapest fare is 357 pesos, or $7USD, each way for its economy class
  • Departs from Cebu Pier 1. Located here
  • Arrival port is Tagbilaran Ferry Terminal, located here
  • Check latest schedule, price and book tickets on its website: https://supercat.com.ph
  • OceanJet:
  • Has 14 daily ferries from 5:10am to 6:40pm basically once every hour
  • Cheapest fare is 500 pesos ($10USD) each way
  • Departs from Cebu Pier 1. Located here
  • Arrival port is Tagbilaran Ferry Terminal, located here
  • Check latest schedule, price and book tickets on its website: http://www.oceanjet.net
  • Alternatively, you can also book on 12Go, which is a large travel booking portal for Southeast Asia
  • Getting to and from these ferry terminals in both Cebu and Bohol is best done by taxi or trikes (which are those 3-wheeled motor taxis popular on Philippines islands). Trikes usually cost 1/2 as much as taxis, but both of them should cost you just a few USD to get to and from the ferry terminal
  • You will need to show your ticket and passport to board the ferry
