Best way to get into the city from Da Nang International Airport

  • Da Nang International Airport is only 2.5km west of downtown Da Nang and is extremely easy to get in
  • Always check with your hotel first if they can pick you up from the airport for free. Because of how close the airport is to the city center, many hotels are willing to do so
  • Other than free hotel pickup, the best way into the city center is to take a taxi or Grab. This option is quite cheap too
  • Alternatively, you can take public bus #4, arrange a private transfer service, or simply walk if you don't have a lot of luggage. I don't really recommend any of these alternatives though

  • How to taxi from the airport (best option):
  • Fare: 70,000 VND - 100,000 VND ($3-$4.5USD) to the old town. Fares are paid in cash VND only
  • Where to take taxi: just exit the terminal building and cross the street, and you will see taxis lined up there. There will be someone in uniform ushering you into a taxi
  • Which taxi to take: I suggesting going with either Vinasun or Mai Linh taxi. These two are the only national taxi companies in Vietnam and their fares are the best. Other taxi groups will have meters that run very fast and can rack up 2-3 times what Vinasun or Mai Linh will charge for the same distance. You should familiarize yourself with what Vinasun's and Mai Linh's taxis look like

  • How to take a Grab taxi from the airport (great option):
  • An even better option than taxi is to use Grab (https://www.grab.com), it's the Southeast Asian version of Uber
  • Grab fares: less than 77,000 VND ($3.3USD) for a 4-seat sedan and 96,000 VND ($4.2USD) for a 7-seat van to downtown Danang. If you don't have any luggage, you can also get a motorbike taxi for 26,000 VND ($1.2USD) to downtown
  • How to get a Grab: download the Grab app and set it up in your home country (because you need to be able to receive SMS verification code to set up). At Danang airport, use the free wifi in the terminal and the Grab app on your phone to get a car. The cap will give you detailed instructions on which door to meet your driver at. The driver will usually message you through the app to confirm your location, but don't worry about language barrier the app automatically translates the communications

  • How to take a public bus from the airport to downtown Da Nang (cheapest option but don't recommend):
  • There is actually no public bus from the airport itself. You need to walk 5-10 minutes to the intersection outside of the airport to get on the bus
  • I don't recommend this option because sure it's cheap but it's not like taxis are THAT expensive, and with the public bus you have to walk with your belongings outside the airport for a significant distance
  • Route number of the public bus: #4
  • Fare: 5,000 VND ($0.25 USD), you pay cash directly on board
  • Service times: 5am to 6pm everyday
  • Frequency: every 12-14 minutes
  • Boarding location: this spot on Google Maps, note that this is not the origin station of bus #4, but simply one of the stops
  • Route map:

  • More information about the bus:
  • Official website: https://www.danangbus.vn (look for route #4)
  • Official app: Android, iOS (the app is great it shows you the route on the map and can help you navigate to your final destination with the bus system)

  • How to arrange private transfers from Da Nang airport (expensive and unnecessary):
  • You can easily find lots of private transfer services from Da Nang airport to the city center
  • Fares range from $11-$14 USD, which is extremely expensive considering how short the drive is and how easy it is to get a taxi for a fraction of the cost
  • If you don't mind the cost, I will say that these private transfers are a very comfortable way to travel because the driver will wait with your name on a card for you and guide you to the car, so you avoid having to look for taxis
  • You need to book them ahead of time. I recommend using websites like Klook, Viator, or Tripadvisor to find these transfers
  • Or you can just Google "da nang airport transfer" and check out the top results

  • How to walk from the airport to downtown:
  • If you don't have a lot of luggage, this is actually a very viable option
  • It takes about 30-40 minutes to walk downtown
  • If you plan to do so, make sure you buy a bottle of water to stay hydrated as it is hot here and you will sweat a lot
  • You also must have your phone to help you navigate. I recommend getting a SIM card so that you can use real time navigation, but you can also just use the airport free wifi to pre-load the entire city and plot your route before leaving the airport
