Great Wall Hiking to the Wild Sanjiebei - The Great Wall at the Border of Three Provinces

Great Wall Adventure Club organized us an in-depth tour to Sanjiebei (three provinces bordering together) Great Wall. The Great Wall goes through the boundary of three provinces - Beijing, Hebei and Tianjin.

The Great Wall of the motherland is a valuable heritage that has attracted worldwide attention. That majestic posture is the pride of the motherland and the pride of the Chinese nation. Looking at the Great Wall from a distance, it looks like a giant dragon winding through the mountains. It undulates and has a strange sight. It rises from Shanhaiguan in the east and Jiayuguan in the west. I have been to Shanhaiguan and Jiayuguan to appreciate the majesty of the Great Wall. The restored Great Wall, Badaling, Mutianyu, Jinshanling and Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall, have long become famous tourist attractions. Climb the Great Wall, hike the Great Wall, walk the Badaling, Juyongguan, Mutianyu, Simatai, Jinshanling, etc., have been restored The Great Wall, where tourists are standing shoulder to shoulder, might as well climb the "Wild Great Wall" like Jiankou. The Wild Great Wall refers to areas that retain the original form of the Great Wall. It is more challenging than the Great Wall that has been developed into a tourist attraction. There are many places in the Wild Great Wall like Beijing. Most of the Great Wall around Beijing was built in the Ming Dynasty, that is, the Wild Great Wall has fewer tourists. This is its more attractive place. It is much cleaner than the bustling scenic spots. The broken, old bricks and stones stretch across the lofty mountains and are desolate. The carved natural beauty can make people feel another kind of beauty of the Great Wall. Many travellers especially love to climb the Great Wall. First, there are no tickets, no many tourists, second, exercise, and third, experience the real wildness of the outdoors. This is also the most important. I am not a pure travel buddy, because I don't go out to climb mountains, climbs, or adventures like many travel buddies, but this is also my wish to have the opportunity to experience and challenge as a travel buddy.

On this Sunday, May 15th, I met with a friend to participate in an outdoor hiking and cross-country Great Wall leisure one-day tour. The intensity is not very strong, just to experience it. I have been to the Wild Great Wall before, but I have never crossed it on foot.

We set off at 7:30 in the morning. Under the guidance of the navigation, the car arrived at Hongshimen Village, Jinhaihu Town, Pinggu. The name of Hongshimen Village comes from a red cliff at the entrance of the village. The village is located in the northeast of Jinhaihu Town, Pinggu District, Beijing. It is surrounded by mountains and is about 110 kilometers away from the urban area. In recent years, it has attracted Beijing and Tianjin due to its unique geographical location, rolling mountains and beautiful scenery. A large number of mountaineering and tourism enthusiasts from the surrounding areas come here. The section of the Great Wall at Hongshimen was the first section of the Great Wall in Pinggu, and it was also the starting point for the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty to enter Beijing. A section of the Great Wall straddles the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, which is located at the junction of the three provinces and cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Commonly known as "three provinces with one foot". This is the destination for outdoor sports on Sunday, and there is a sign not far in front that says "Three provinces with one foot".

Walked to the Three Boundary Monument. The Three Boundary Monument is located in Qianganjian Village, Xiaying Town, the northernmost tip of Jixian County, Tianjin, at the junction of the three provinces and cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. This is the only boundary monument between three provinces and cities in North China standing on the pier of the Great Wall. The Great Wall is built on the hills and runs continuously. It connects with the Huangyaguan Great Wall to the east and extends to Beijing in the northwest. Both sections of the Great Wall happen to be on the ridge, so the Great Wall has become the boundary line of the three provinces and cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. The boundary monument is located on a round concrete ground on the enemy platform. The ground is divided into three parts by broken stones, marking the boundary of Beijing to the southwest, Tianjin to the southeast, and Hebei to the northwest. According to data, in 1996, the State Council erected a "Three Boundary Stele" on the mountain at the northern junction of the three provinces and cities in the Beijing and Tianjin wing. The stele is made of cement. They are written in Tianjin, Beijing, and Hebei. The words "111213I/State Council/1996" are written below the three characters on each side. The section of the Hongshimen Great Wall we climbed along the way is the border line between Beijing and Xinglong County, Hebei Province, directly connecting Zhangzuo Liguan and Jiangjunguan. The Great Wall in Pinggu, Xinglong County, to the northeast, was built on the basis of the Northern Qi Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty. Looking east from the boundary monument, I saw a section of the unrepaired stone-built Great Wall winding eastward along the mountain. It is said that this section of the Great Wall connects with the Huangyaguan Great Wall in Ji County, Tianjin.

Today we walk through the starting point of Hongshimen Village, Pinggu, Beijing, passing through the junction of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province (there will be a triangular stele) and then enter the area of the Ye Great Wall in Jixian County. Return to Beijing by car from Tianjin Ji County.

Equipment items: backpack, hiking shoes, trekking poles, about 3 or 4 bottles of water, lunch. When climbing the Wild Great Wall, you must also pay attention to sun protection and personal safety. Safety first.

If you don’t reach the Great Wall, you’re not a hero, and you’ve never climbed the Wild Great Wall, let alone experience the fun of climbing the Great Wall, or experience the vicissitudes of history. Give yourself a like.
