Getting to Guangzhou from Shenzhen by bus

  • Personally I recommend taking the high speed train to get between Guangzhou and Shenzhen, but if you aren't able to get tickets around Chinese New Year, or if you happen to be closer to a bus terminal, it might make more sense to take a bus instead
  • There are a number of bus terminals in Shenzhen that run buses to Guangzhou:
  1. Luohu Coach Terminal: buses to Guangzhou run between 6am and 10pm. You can get here by taking the subway to Luohu Station on line 1 (the last station on line 1), and then exit from exit A. Go into the bus terminal using entrance C (the green one) as there are 3 entrances to it
  2. Huanggang Coach Terminal: buses to GZ run between 7:30am to 8:30am, four times an hour. It's not on a subway line but it's very close to the Futian downtown area so easily accessible by taxi
  3. Fuyong Bus Station: it's very close to the airport, but quite far north of the downtown area. Buses to GZ run between 6am to 6:30pm. It's not on a subway line but you can taxi there from downtown area for ¥120 (~$20)
  • Buses to Guangzhou should take 1.5-2 hours. They should go to the bus stations adjacent to the main train station, from where you can take the subway or taxi to downtown Guangzhou very cheaply
  • The buses should cost around ¥60 ($10)
