Tanot Mata Temple near Sam Sand Dunes also played a major role during the 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan. It is widely believed that the deity of this temple, Tanot Mata, through her divine powers, defused over 3000 bombs that fell near this temple. As a result, it saved the lives of soldiers and resulted in the famous victory in the Battle of Longewala.
You can still visit the famous temple, which is just 3 hour’s drive from Sam sand dunes area. Here the Tanot Mata Temple is famous and there is a museum besides the temple, where you can still see the unexploded bombs kept safely as a souvenir of those wars.
