How to get in to the city from Kaohsiung International Airport

  • I usually use the metro to get into the city from the airport. It's very convenient and cheap and highly recommended
  • The airport is on metro red line. Simply follow signs inside the terminal to get to the metro station
  • First train is at 5:56 in the morning and last train is at 0:02 in the morning (2 minutes past midnight)
  • Trip takes 15-30 minutes to get to most parts of the city center. You can then transfer to orange line or green line to get to your destination
  • Fare is 35 taiwanese dollars to most places in the city center $1.2 USD
  • Here's a map of the Kaohsiung's metro system. Airport station is at the bottom. Green line is light rail and require separate payment when you get on. Google maps also has the metro lines overlaid on top so you should use that to determine which station to get toUser submitted photo of Kaohsiung
  • Get the latest metro system fare and departure information on the official KRTC website: https://www.krtco.com.tw/en
  • By the way, ticket purchase is cash only. BUT, if you have a MasterCard or UnionPay contactless tapping card, you can skip ticket purchase and go directly into the station by tapping your card. You can also tap your ApplePay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay directly into the station as well, provided they are linked to a MasterCardUser submitted photo of Kaohsiung
  • If you don't want to use the metro, here's some taxi information:
  • Average taxi fare from Kaohsiung International Airport to the city center is 250-350 Taiwanese Dollars, or $8-$11.5 USD
  • I suggest you bring cash to pay. I'm honestly not sure if many of them will accept credit card I always pay cash
  • Taxis stands are located outside the arrival lobby. They are all painted yellow
