Best way to get to city center from Da Lat Airport

  • Da Lat's airport is located 25km south of the city
  • The two main ways to get into the city are: taxi and shuttle bus. Which option is the best for you primarily depend on your budget
  • Taxi (good option but not cheap):
  • Fare is fixed 250,000 VND ($10.75 USD) for a standard 4-seater car to get to anywhere in the city. 7-seater vans are also available for additional 50,000 VND ($2.15USD)
  • Takes 30-40 minutes
  • Running anytime of the day flights are arriving so you don't have to worry about availability
  • To take one, you need to find the booth next to the baggage carousel that sell taxi vouchers with a sign showing "TAXI"
  • They don't accept credit card for payment so you must have cash VND on hand
  • No tipping necessary after you're dropped off
  • Note that as of August 2019 Grab is not available to pick up from the airport to go to the city. BUT it is available to pick up from the city and drop off at the airport. The fare is actually quite expensive at about 375,000 VND each way
  • The best way to get a taxi from the city to get back to the airport is to have your hotel arrange one for you. You should tell them to call Mai Linh because they're the most reputable taxi company anywhere in Vietnam

  • Shuttle bus (cheapest option but need to transfer to your hotel):
  • Also next to the baggage carousels at the arrival area, you will find a booth that sells shuttle bus tickets to the city center
  • This shuttle is run by Vietnam Airlines, but anyone can use the shuttle with fare
  • Fare is 40,000 VND ($1.75 USD) per passenger, including baggages
  • Travel time is 30-45 minutes
  • Schedule varies and I cannot find any published schedules, but it's tied to Vietnam Airlines flight schedule
  • The bus does not drop you off at your hotel. When you're buying the ticket they will tell you that the shuttle drops you off at the hotel, this is a blatant lie that many travelers have heard again and again. It drops you off close to at Vietnam Airline's office at this spot on the edge of the city center (or it might also drop you off at Ngoc Phat Hotel, located at this spot not too far from Vietnam Airlines' office), and from there you need to take a metered taxi for another 20,000-30,000 VND ($0.85 - $1.30 USD). Or if you don't have a lot of luggage you can just walk. Da Lat city center is not that big.
  • Returning from the city to the airport, this shuttle is also available. You need to call ahead at 0913747480 (or better yet ask your hotel to call this number) to book your ticket. Call at least 2 days ahead is recommended. If that number doesn't work, you can also call Ngoc Phat Hotel and inquire through them, as I think there's some kind of partnership between the shuttle and that hotel. Ngoc Phat Hotel can be reached at 2633683979. Return shuttle back to the airport generally will pick you up from your hotel, especially if you call them well ahead of time. Sometimes, depending on the routing, they may ask you to go to Ngoc Phat Hotel to board. Again, you need to call them ahead to find out
