Air pollution level in Manila is fairly low

  • Manila's air quality is actually pretty good overall
  • When you look at where how it ranks in air pollution (source:, it's actually cleaner than cities like Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Milan, Chiang Mai, Jakarta, etc.
  • It's comparable to Tokyo and Los Angeles, and slightly worse than Singapore
  • The cleanest months in the year are June and July, but the even the rest of the year aren't that bad
  • No need to bring masks or anything like that
  • The only times you need to worry about air pollution is if the haze from Indonesia drifts over during their burning season. Always a good idea to check realtime AQI (from sites like before you visit
