How to get from Mairitius MRU airport to Port Loius city center

  • Most tourists use taxis to get from the airport to Port Louis.
  • Airport taxis are available at level 0 just opposite customs as you exit the arrivals terminal.
  • Airport taxis are more expensive compared to other taxi providers. They'll charge about 50 euros from MRU to Port Louis Victoria square bus station.
  • For cheaper taxis use taxi Mauritius. They charge 35 euros from MRU to Port Loius.
  • Time: It takes about an hour to get to Port Loius from MRU.
  • There is no Uber or Lyft in Mauritius currently.
  • Watch out for scam: There are several online pages named Uber Mauritius. Some really offer taxi services but avoid such taxis, it's really unsafe.

Public buses

  • I highly recommend using buses if you don't have much luggage.
  • The bus system at MRU is easy to understand, there are only 3 bus routes to and from the airport. Bus 9, 10 and 198
  • Bus stop location: see map

Bus 9

  • These buses operate from the airport to the Mahebourg bus station and Curepipe station every 10 minutes.
  • Trip duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

Bus route 10.

  • Buses on this route operate between the airport, Mahebourg traffic center, and Rivière Des Gallets every 20 minutes.
  • Trip duration: 1 hour 45 minutes.

Bus route 198

  • These buses run from the airport to Port Loius Victoria square and Mahebourg bus station every 15 minutes.

Car rentals

  • Most international car rental brands are available at MRU: Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Budget are some of the rentals available at MRU.
  • All car rentals are located at the car rentals booth just opposite the taxi rank.
