How to fill out VAT refund forms in Morocco
If you make purchases qualifying for a tax refund the vendor will give you a tax-free form to fill out. You can either choose to fill out a government form or a tax refund company form such as Global blue.
In my case, I always opted for global blue since their refund processing is faster though they collect a percentage of your VAT refund as a fee.
For global blue they don't need the original receipts since the tax-free forms are proof of purchases, I'm not sure though if this is also the case with government refunds.
During your departure, you'll need to have all your tax free forms validated and stamped. This can be done at either the global blue desk or at customs.
Tip: If you have filled out global blue forms, the claiming process is easier if you depart from either Marrakech or Casablanca international airports since they have global blue desks there. You can validate and claim your refund in cash.
If you depart from other airports (Except Marrakech and Casablanca) and you had filled out global blue forms, you'll have to mail them to global blue after they have been validated by customs.
If you had filled government tax-free forms you'll drop them at customs and your refund will be added to your credit card.
I departed from Merana airport in Marrakech. Global blue offices are located in the public area of terminal 1.
