Getting in from Yangon International Airport to the city

  • You have two options to get in from the airport in Yangon. Bus and taxi
  • Bus costs 500 kyat, which is 44 cents SGD and 33 cents USD.
  • It's part of the Yangon Bus Service network operated by OmniFocus
  • Bus takes 1 hour to get to Yangon Central Railway Station, in central Yangon. The bus makes many stops along the way, be sure to get off at the last one which is the railway station
  • Bus runs 24 hours a day, during the day time it departs every 10-20 minutes
  • Fare payment is cash only and you pay on the bus. They will ask for 500 kyat exact change
  • The bus can be boarded outside of Departures door 1 at terminal 1 (which is the international terminal). If you're arriving at a domestic terminal, the bus can be boarded across the street from door 1 at terminal 3, and by the Yan Kun Cafe at terminal 2
  • The buses are red
  • Taxi costs around 10000 kyat to downtown, which is $8.8 SGD and $6.6USD
  • The taxi stall is located to your front left when you exit the baggage claim area. You will see attendants wearing shirts with "taxi" written on it
  • You will be approached by touts offering you taxi services too, but don't go with them because they usually overcharge you a lot. They told me $10-$15 US, which is expensive compared to legal taxis
  • You can also take Grab to downtown too. There are many cars around the airport so waiting time should be no more than 1-2 minutes. Grab costs the same as taxi at around 10000 kyat
