At the end - everything depends on your budget and time you are ready to spend.
I will list the best options as they was and is up to this day on 2018.
Please, write in comment if you have any new updates on airport transfer in Sydney!
Sydney Airport (SYD) is located just 8km from the downtown of the city. The airport itself - provides two transport options to get into the city -
It will cost 11€ (AUD$16.70) and take 13 minutes to reach the city's central station.
The airport train stations are located at international and domestic terminals at Sydney Airport. You can buy ticket on a tap-and-go Opal card, Relay or WH Smith at the station, which can be used for a single journey or it is also rechargeable for your next rides.
A Sydney airport taxi ride into the city will cost approximately 28.30€ (AUD$45) and take 20 minutes in good traffic.
So in conclusion - If you are traveling with someone and have luggage - it is easier and almost cheaper to get a taxi. However, the trains do leave regularly and have long operating hours, but can be busy after large flights or during peak times.
