Money exchange tips for Travelling in Thailand

  • Usually exchange rates are 5-10% better inside Thailand than most ppl’d home country, so exchange here unless you need Thai currency for visa on arrival payment
  • US dollar bills get the best rates, exchanging your currency into dollar then exchanging into Thai baht is still cheaper than exchanging your currently directly
  • Bring the largest currency bills as rates for small bills are lower
  • Exchange rates for travellers check tend to be worse than cash (except for Siam Commercial Bank) anyway you may be better off just bringing a debit card if you don’t want to carry cash
  • No additional commission or handling fees applied on cash exchange
  • Kasikorn and Siam Commercial Bank offer great rates, so do Super Rich and Value Plus. They all have booth in airports, who’s rates are at par with what’s in the city
  • ATM withdraws charge a 200+baht flat fee, use the yellow bank (Krungsri Bank) to get max withdraw limits which is 30,000baht
  • Btw most businesses charge a 3% surcharge on credit card usage
  • Exchnage left over Baht before leaving the country
