Winter travel from Perth to Hawaii and mainland U.S.A usually via PER-SYD-HNL or PER-SG-SFO-HNL
ANA has recently launched a direct Perth to Narita flight which is less than 850 AUSD
ANA has also launched a direct Narita to Honolulu flight on their super new A380--THIS IS SO WORTH IT.
Highly recommend the service on the ANA legs of the flight. The Honolulu to Narita return leg was amazingly comfortable.
Do pay a bit more for premium economy- just as comfy as business, special meals can be booked via the ANA website.
Felt so good after the flight-immediately went for a run. This is completely opposite to how I feel after other flights.
Be careful about ANA codeshare with UNITED. The Narita to HNL leg was with UNITED and it was terrible. Was pulled out of my seat because "visa not checked"--despite groundstaff in Perth checking and documenting my U.S.A visa
United will not honour any special meals booked online--you actually have to call 24 hours before and they may not have it available.
Despite this, I recommend the route for Western Australians as getting stranded in Narita is amazeballs compared to getting stranded in Sydney or Melbourne with flight delays. The Japanese are on the ball, Narita is bloody amazing.
