Tunisia Visa Information

  • As is it is now Tunisia visa application is not yet online, you still have to apply for a visa through the embassy/ consulate.

Visa requirements

  1. Visa application form
  2. Passport that's valid for at least 6 months.
  3. 2 passport sized photos
  4. Visa fee- currently you can only pay by cash or by postal orders, depends with the embassy. Visa fees are also not standard, depends on your citizenship.
  5. Hotel accommodation, business trip invitation letter or a notarized invitation letter if you'll be staying with family members.
  • Visa processing duration: Apply at two weeks prior to your trip.
  • You don't have to visit the embassy in person. I just send my documents by mail. Make sure you include a prepaid express envelope in your mail so that they can send back your passport.
  • Note: Citizens of certain countries don't need visas to travel to Tunisia, confirm whether or not you need the visa before you apply for one.
  • Visa duration: 90 days
  • Visa on arrival: Not available currently.

Visa extension.

  • Easiest way to extend your visa is by exiting then re entering Tunisia.
  • My advise: If you'll be staying in Tunisia for more than 3 months, apply for a temporary residence permit that will give you time in Tunisia.

Consequences of overstaying your visa in Tunisia.

  • I've overstayed my visa a few times in Tunisia, you'll pay TND 200 ($30) for every week you overstay.

Hi Abdul. Thanks for an amazing summary. I have a question: Is it possible to apply for a temporary residence permit that will give you time in Tunisia AFTER arriving in Tunisia as a tourist? I don't have any reason for which they would grant me longer stay. Another question actually: how long do you have to be outside of tunisia to restart the 90 days allowable? THAnks!
