Do you need VPN for Vietnam

  • If you're in Vietnam for regular tourism and not work, the short answer is no, you don't need VPN
  • When I visited last month, the only major website that was blocked was BBC. Everything else I needed (including FB, IG, Google services, Reddit, Whatsapp, YouTube) was working and speed was fast
  • If you're in Vietnam for work though, you might consider getting VPN for the purpose of encrypting your connection so to make it harder for the Vietnamese government to snoop your data, but this won't apply to 99.9% of people
